Beginning Iaido/Kendo/Naginata Class
The focus of the practice of
swordsmanship within the Academy of Zen and the Ways is training to
center body, breath and mind through Zen and Swordsmanship.
Program
The beginning course in Iaido/Kendo/Naginata
will teach the student fundamentals necessary for the practice of
Swordsmanship in the Academy of Zen and the Ways, School of Budo.
This will include the practice of Zazen (sitting meditation),
stretching exercises, basic posture and centering exercises, Reigi
(basic conduct of practice), and fundamentals of using the Japanese
sword. A certificate of
completion will be issued at the successful completion of the
course, which qualifies the student for participation in regular
classes of the Academy in Iaido, Kendo and Naginata
